Pack for heat

White stone, a smaller party, silk that survives the car.

Heat is a material. Stone holds it. Shutters cut it. Silk has to live in it twice: the terrace, then breakfast.

Puglia first. Villa Apeliote: white stone, six at the table, an infinity pool that holds the plain. Alto Salento. Olive, a courtyard, evening when the stone is still warm. Pack the caffè latte silk. Leave the wool.

Villa Puspo is inland Carovigno. A pool, a trullo for the fifth bedroom, twelve at the patio table. Fire if you want it. A wood oven when the chef is in. Silk that survives the car.

The list is shorter than altitude.

  • Bias-cut silk that still reads in the morning.
  • A slip that packs flat.
  • Lace that does not fight the heat.
  • One cover for the car and the evening breeze.
  • Nothing that needs a steamer. The house is not a wardrobe.

Across the water, same climate, different stone. Naxos: Aegean heat, wind when the afternoon turns. Villa Archaion Kallos is two houses and a pool, fourteen if you fill both. Pack cream silk that survives salt. Pergolas for noon. Fire if the night is cool.

Puglia holds the Salento houses. Heat, stone, a table outside. Packed with the house in mind.
